Madness Distillery: The Story of a Passion Turned Business

Tone Purzycki had always been a hospitality industry veteran, owning and running a successful Immersive Experience business called Trap Door. However, he noticed that after a great night out with friends, his guests were often left wondering what to do next. This sparked an idea in Tone’s mind to provide them with something extra, something that would keep the night going and add to the overall experience. And thus, Madness Distillery was born.

Initially, Madness Distillery was just an after-game activity at Trap Door, but as Tone delved deeper into the process of creating unique and delicious cocktails, he realized his passion for distillation. He invested time and resources into turning Madness into its own brand and business, and the result was a series of successful and well-received products.

The first product that Tone created was Delusion Vodka. Being a fan of vodka, Tone was determined to create a vodka that didn’t have the typical “nail polish remover” taste. He researched natural filtration processes until he stumbled upon a basil-based filtration method that, when combined with cucumber, resulted in a refreshing taste reminiscent of a spa water.

Next up was Phobia Rum Pyro, a rum that had the perfect balance of spice and heat that could still be used in cocktails. This took Tone months to perfect, but in September 2022, he finally found the perfect formula that satisfied his goal of providing his guests with a unique and satisfying taste experience.

Then, Tone created Phobia Rum White, with the aim of bringing the Caribbean to his guests in a bottle. He didn’t want it to be too sweet, so he added jalapeno peppers to give it the right flavor and provide a truly authentic taste of the tropics.

In the summer of 2023 Tone massively expanded the lineup. Both Delusion Vodka and Phobia Rum updated with a massive collection of delicious flavors for every flavor profile.  

The themed tasting rooms at Madness Distillery were designed to immerse guests in the spirits that Tone had created. The atmosphere and environment were carefully curated to provide a memorable and enjoyable experience that would bring people together.
